MAY 26 Al Downing allowed 3 hits while blanking Chicago NL at Wrigley Field where the New York AL Yankees beat the Chicago NL Cubs by the score of 2 to 0. Downing(4-2) dominated Chicago NL hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 3 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 2.40 to 2.09. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.
