Elston Howard cracked 2 homeruns and Whitey Ford was able to finish what he
started and was credited with a complete game as the New York AL Yankees beat
the Minnesota Twins by a score of 7 to 3.

New York AL won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 4
runners on 5 hits.  The highlight belonged to Mickey Mantle who deflated the
mood of the partisan fans when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  New
York AL banged out 13 on the night.

The victory went to Ford(12-10) who went the distance allowing 3 runs. Lee
Stange(8-9) absorbed the loss.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 8 and 1/3
innings.
