SEPT 5

Mickey Mantle homered at Comiskey Park as the New York AL Yankees beat the
Chicago AL White Sox by the count of 4 to 0.

Chicago AL fell behind quickly as the New York AL offense came through in the
first inning plating an isolated run using 2 hits.  That early scoring was
all that Jim Bouton(14-10) needed.  New York AL and Chicago AL each finished
the night with 6 hits.

Bouton got help from Hal Reniff who earned his 24th save.  Dave
Debusschere(1-3) was the loser.  He gave up 4 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

Left fielder Charlie Maxwell jacked one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI and
Jack Kralick carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Chicago AL White
Sox topped the New York AL Yankees by a score of 8 to 0 at Comiskey
Park.

Maxwell made sure the Chicago AL fans enjoyed themselves.  He hit a single in
the 4th inning, doubled which scored a run in the 5th inning and lost the
ball over the fence for three runs (his 2nd of the season) in the 8th inning.
Chicago AL finished with 11 hits in the victory.

Kralick(15-8) was credited with the shutout.  The left-handed Kralick lost his
no-hit bid when Clete Boyer singled with nobody out in the 6th inning.  Stan
Williams(4-9) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed Chicago AL 4 runs in 3 and
1/3 innings of work.

'When Kralick is on like that it is a tough game to play, no doubt about it,'
New York AL's manager said. 'He always pitches well against us.'
