The Washington Senators easily topped the New York AL Yankees; the final score
was 6 to 1.
 
Washington jumped on top of New York AL in the bottom of the 3rd inning as
they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits.  That was all the offense they were to
need.  Washington ended up with 12 hits for the game while New York AL had 7.
 
The victory went to Ed Rakow(1-0) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run.
Art Fowler got the save, his 1st.  Ralph Terry(0-1) was given the loss.

The New York AL Yankees edged the Washington Senators in 10 innings at D.C.
Stadium by the score of 6 to 5.
 
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  New York AL came
out on top in the 10th inning.  Yogi Berra delivered a solo blast (his 1st of
the season).  The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5
times. 
 
Ryne Duren(1-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Duren
