Ty Cline had 2 base hits as the New York AL Yankees beat the Kansas City A's
by a score of 5 to 4.
 
New York AL scored the deciding run in the 9th inning.  After two outs Dale
Long delivered a solo blast (his 1st of the season).  New York AL had 10 hits
for the game and Kansas City had 7. 
 
Tex Clevenger(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
1 run. Clevenger got relief help from Bob Turley who gained credit for his
1st save.  Dom Zanni(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 hit
and no walks in 1 inning. 
 
New York AL now has a record of 9-6.  Kansas City has a record of 8-7 after
the loss.

where the Kansas City A's beat the New York AL Yankees in 19 innings 4 to
3.
 
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Kansas City came out the
victor in the 19th inning.  Clay Dalrymple smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'
(his 1st of the season) making Kansas City the victors to the delight of the
home town faithful.  Both teams finished the game with 16 hits. 
 
The win was credited to Billy O'Dell(4-1) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.

Ralph Terry allowed just 3 hits as the New York AL Yankees defeatedthe Kansas
City A's by a score of 2 to 1 at Municipal Stadium.
 
Terry(3-1) was in control of the game from the outset.  He allowed just 3 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 3.60 to 2.91.  Kansas City
threatened in the 9th but New York AL was able to put down the rally. 
 
The loss was charged to Diego Segui(1-3).  He gave up only 3 hits and 3 walks
in 8 innings.  Kansas City's manager was in a sour mood after the game.
'Even you guys up in the press box know why we lost this game. We made too
many mistakes.'
