MAY 15 Bill Skowron rocketed 2 homeruns as the New York AL Yankees topped the Boston Red Sox by a score of 5 to 3 at Fenway Park. New York AL came up with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when they had 3 base hits. They would hold up as the winning runs. Boston was out-hit by New York AL, 12 hits to 5. The victory was credited to Jim Bouton(3-3) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run. The losing pitcher was Bo Belinsky(2-3). He allowed 3 homeruns in 7 innings of work. The deciding run was scored by Boston in the bottom of the 9th. Joe Cunningham lined a one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Hardy stepped up to the plate and he tripled resulting in a mighty exciting win for Boston and the 25,659 home town fans in attendance. Boston won despite being out-hit by New York AL 11 hits to 7. Lindy McDaniel(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. Luis Arroyo(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. Gonzalez enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He delivered a single in the 2nd inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 8th of the season) in the 3rd inning and singled scoring a run in the 7th inning. New York AL proved to be no trouble in the 9th. McDaniel(2-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 innings. Ralph Terry(6-4) ended up with the loss.
