MAY 22 Don Schwall completed the game without help from the bullpen and left fielder Bob Skinner had 2 base hits as the Pittsburgh Pirates outscored the New York AL Yankees 4 to 2. Pittsburgh tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning with the help of 4 hits. Chico Fernandez started the inning off right when he lashed a single. Whitey Ford then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. After an out was recorded, Johnny Romano stepped in and he lined a one-base hit driving in a run. Donn Clendenon was up next and he laced a single. Leon Wagner came to the plate and stroked a base-hit driving in one more runner. Wagner took second on the throw. Bill Mazeroski kept things alive and would ground out scoring the final run of the inning. Pittsburgh managed 12 in their victory. Schwall(3-8), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Ford(2-7) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 4 runs and 12 hits in 8 innings.
