Johnny Blanchard blasted 2 homeruns as the New York AL Yankees outscored the
Chicago AL White Sox in 10 innings 4 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  New York AL won it in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Tom Tresh initiated the scoring spurt
when he lined a base-hit.  Bobby Richardson followed and he delivered a
single.  Dale Long then delivered a single scoring a run.  Elston Howard
stepped in and he would ground out scoring the final run of the inning.
Chicago AL had 13 hits in the game while New York AL had 10, but New York AL
had the more timely hits.

The winning pitcher was Jim Bouton(7-4) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Ryne
Duren got the save, his 8th.  Turk Lown(4-3) was hit with the loss in relief.

JULY 30

Billy Pierce tossed a fine 3 hitter and Larry Burright had 4 hits and 4 RBI as
the Chicago AL White Sox topped the New York AL Yankees by a score of 10 to 2
at Comiskey Park.

Burright enjoyed a big evening at the plate.  He slapped a base-hit bringing
in two baserunners in the 1st inning, ripped a base-knock in the 3rd inning,
cracked a two-run shot (his 5th of the season) in the 5th inning and tripled
in the 8th inning.  Chicago AL banged out 13 on the night.

The victory went to Pierce(8-5) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. Hal
Brown(3-4) was given the loss.  By giving up 9 runs in 5 innings his ERA
increased from 5.48 to 6.26.

JULY 31

In a good matchup it was the Chicago AL White Sox 4, the New York AL Yankees 2
at Comiskey Park.

Chicago AL jumped on top of New York AL in the 3rd inning when they tallied 2
runs on 2 hits.  The big moment was provided by Roy Sievers who made the
Chicago AL fans a happy lot when he popped a two-run clout over the fence
(his 18th of the season).  Chicago AL had 8 hits overall, while New York AL
had 4.

Ray Herbert(11-8) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Herbert got
relief help from Marshall Bridges who gained credit for his 16th save.  The
losing pitcher was Dan Pfister(5-10).
