AUGUST 14

One run was the difference at Municipal Stadium as the Kansas City A's
defeated the New York AL Yankees in 10 innings 3 to 2.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings.  Finally, Kansas
City pulled the game out in the 10th inning.  Dick Schofield slapped a
single.  Jim Bouton then had one get away for a wild pitch.  After an out was
recorded, Norm Siebern came to the plate and lashed a single resulting in an
exciting win for Kansas City and a raucous post-game celebration by the home
town fans.  New York AL had 10 hits in the game while Kansas City had 6, but
Kansas City had the more timely hits.

The victory was credited to Frank Funk(5-6) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Bouton(7-5) in relief.
