AUGUST 22 First baseman Dale Long cracked a homer as the streaking New York AL Yankees topped the Minnesota Twins by a score of 3 to 2 at Metropolitan Stadium. Ralph Terry(17-11) earned his pay with a solid performance for New York AL. He allowed 6 hits and no walks in 8 innings and allowed 2 gopher balls. New York AL had 11 hits overall, while Minnesota had 6. Terry got help from Ryne Duren who was credited with his 13th save. Cal McLish(5-9) absorbed the loss.
