april 20 Jim Wynn rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Memorial Stadium as the Baltimore Orioles beat the New York AL Yankees 6 to 1. The Baltimore fans enjoyed the offense provided by Wynn. He cracked a solo homerun in the 2nd inning, delivered a single in the 3rd inning and smashed a two-run homer (his 5th of the season) in the 7th inning. Baltimore had 12 hits overall, while New York AL had 6. The victory went to Tom Phoebus(3-1) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run. Fritz Peterson(0-2) was tagged with the loss. The Baltimore ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 11-4. With the loss, New York AL has a record of 3-7 lately, 3-12, worst in the division overall.
