Catcher Bill Freehan smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Metropolitan Stadium
where the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins by the score of 9 to
1.

Freehan was really in 'the zone'.  He laced a base-hit in the 3rd inning,
bombed a two-run dinger in the 8th inning and rifled a three-run blast (his
7th of the season) in the 9th inning.  Detroit ended up with 9 hits for the
game while Minnesota had 5.

Joe Sparma(2-2) went 6 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Steve
Hargan(1-3) was the losing pitcher.  He struck out 10 batters in 7 innings
despite losing the game.

'I had good swings today,' Freehan said, 'Everything felt right'.
