april 24 Jim O'Toole(2-1) and Whitey Ford(0-1) treated the Chicago AL fans to a fine pitching duel at Comiskey Park. The Chicago AL White Sox eventually emerged as victors over the ice-cold New York AL Yankees by the score of 2 to 1. Chicago AL had 2 runs cross the plate in the 5th inning with the help of 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Don Buford who made the crowd happy when he hit a single scoring two baserunners. New York AL had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. Hoyt Wilhelm recorded his 2nd save. 'You have to give New York AL credit, they fought us tough to the end' Jon Fellows said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the victory.' Chicago AL finished with 8 hits in the victory. The victory was credited to Peters(3-3) who went the distance, allowing 1 run. Bill Monbouquette(1-3) took the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 7 hits in 5 innings. The Chicago AL ballclub's record now stands at 14-9. New York AL can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'.
