The Kansas City A's defeated the New York AL Yankees by a score of 6 to 3 at
Municipal Stadium.
 
Kansas City took the lead for keeps in the 3rd inning scoring a single run on
2 hits.  That early scoring was all that Hal Brown(3-3) needed.  New York AL
was out-hit by Kansas City, 10 hits to 7. 
 
Frank Funk was credited with his 4th save.  Ralph Terry(2-4) was tagged with
the loss.  He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 9 hits and no walks.
 
With this win, Kansas City has a 17-19 record.  They have been 3-7 lately.
New York AL has a record of 18-18 after the loss.

Johnny Blanchard blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the New York ALYankees
topped the Kansas City A's by a score of 6 to 4 at Municipal Stadium.
 
Kansas City was unable to recover after New York AL went ahead in the 2nd
inning scoring 2 runners on 3 hits.  Kansas City threatened in the 9th but
New York AL was able to put down the rally. 
 
Dick Donovan(4-0) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Luis Arroyo was
credited with his 6th save.  Bill Stafford(2-4) ended up with the loss.  He
gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. 
 
Kansas City's manager was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this
one, we just made one too many mistakes.  Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple
more white hairs on this noggin of mine.'

The Kansas City A's nipped the New York AL Yankees 4 to 3 at Municipal Stadium
in a hard fought contest.
 
Kansas City scored 2 runs in the 6th inning.  New York AL had a chance in the
9th but they came up short.  The victory went to Billy O'Dell(5-2) who went 6
innings, allowing 3 runs. Frank Funk gained credit for his 5th save.  Ted
Bowsfield(1-4) was the loser.  He allowed 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.
 
'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' New York AL's manager said.
'We did what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
