In a dramatic ending at Forbes Field the Pittsburgh Pirates won in their last
at-bat beating the New York AL Yankees by the count of 2 to 1.

The deciding run was scored by Pittsburgh in the 9th.  Chico Fernandez stroked
a single.  Harry Bright next to the plate and he reached on an error.  Bill
Virdon then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Steve Boros got his turn next, but
he was a strikeout victim.  Roberto Clemente came to the plate and lashed a
single giving Pittsburgh the win much to the delight of the home town crowd.
Pittsburgh ended up with 10 hits for the game while New York AL had 6.

The victory was credited to Al McBean(2-1) who went 2 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Bobby Shantz(1-2) was charged with the loss in relief.

adjustments,' Skowron said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting
you out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'
