Louis Cardinals were badly beaten by the New York AL Yankees, 15 to 2. Kubek led the offense for New York AL. He blasted a two-run
home run in the 2nd inning and clubbed a three-run home run (his 10th of the season) in the 3rd inning. New York AL bats were hot in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5 hits and the 3rd inning with 4 runs. New York AL had 17 hits overall, while St. Louis had 7. Ralph Terry(8-9) allowed 1 run in 6 innings, and picked up the
victory. Terry got help from Luis Arroyo who earned his 11th save. Bill Monbouquette(7-11) was hit with the loss.

reeling St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 7 to 3. New York AL had the game winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 3
runs using 4 hits. After an out was recorded, Bill Skowron got things rolling when he smacked a single. Tony Kubek came to the plate and drew a walk. Clete Boyer then laced a single to load the bases. Mickey Mantle was up next and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Ed Bouchee stepped into the box and lashed a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Gene Woodling contributed to the rally and delivered a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. New York AL totaled 11 on the night. The victory went to Dick Donovan(10-2) who went 7 innings, allowing
3 runs. Jim Coates recorded the save, his 11th. Bob Gibson(6-11) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 7 hits and 3 walks.
