San Francisco won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. Jim Landis led off the inning for San Francisco when he delivered a single. Rusty Staub stepped up to the plate and he singled. Staub took second on the throw. Willie Mays then would hit into a fielders choice bringing in a run. Tom Haller came up and he stroked a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. San Francisco out-hit Atlanta for the game, 17 hits to 8. The winning pitcher was Lindy McDaniel(2-2) who allowed 3 runs in 1 inning. Frank Linzy got the save, his 5th. Claude Raymond(0-5) absorbed the loss in relief. With this win, San Francisco has a 9-19 record. They have been 4-6 lately. Barry Davis was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.' |
