august 7 Mudcat Grant delivered 6 solid innings as the Baltimore Orioles beat the New York AL Yankees by a score of 6 to 5. Baltimore wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring
one runner utilizing 2 base hits. New York AL threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. The win was credited to Grant(14-10) who went 6 innings allowing no
runs. Grant was helped out by Tom Sturdivant who recorded his 14th save. Jerry Walker(6-8) ended up with the loss. He allowed Baltimore 6 runs in 5 innings of work. [1]

at Memorial Stadium in a hard fought contest. Baltimore scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with the help of
4 hits. The highlight belonged to Jim Gentile who excited the crowd when he blasted a two-run home run (his 37th of the season). New York AL made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Steve Barber(12-8) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory.
