Subject: ** RESULTS ** NY @ MIN SHANTZ get 61 season record in game 3

AUGUST 24

Catcher Elston Howard cleared the bases with his grand slam at Metropolitan
Stadium where the New York AL Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 7 to
5.

Howard was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense.  He delivered a base-hit in the 2nd inning and
launched a Grand Slam homerun (his 21st of the season) in the 3rd inning.
New York AL finished with 9 hits in the victory.

The victory was credited to Dick Donovan(13-4) who went 6 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Luis Arroyo gained credit for his 15th save.  Joe
Gibbon(8-16) took the loss.  New York AL scored big getting 5 runs off him in
2 and 2/3 innings.
