April 7 The New York AL Yankees enjoyed a blow-out, pounding the Detroit Tigers pitchers for 8 while Whitey Ford(1-0)with the aid of the bullpen shut-down Detroit. Detroit was unable to recover after New York AL went ahead in the 2nd inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. That was all the offense they were to need. New York AL had 10 hits for the afternoon. The losing pitcher was Jay Hook(0-1). He pitched 5 innings and surrendered 7 hits and no walks.
