April 20

Marv Breeding had 2 base hits as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York
AL Yankees 5 to 4 at Memorial Stadium.

Baltimore came up with 3 runs in the 3rd inning when they had 4 base hits.
The highlight belonged to Harry Chiti who electrified Memorial Stadium when
he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 1st of the season).  Baltimore
ended up with 12 hits for the game while New York AL had 5.

Ray Sadecki(2-1) got the win allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Sadecki got help
from Marty Kutyna who was credited with his 2nd save.  Whitey Ford(3-1) was
the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around by Baltimore, allowing 10 hits and
3 walks in 7 innings.

When questioned, Baltimore's manager remarked, 'It's been a while since a win
felt this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'

Bill Skowron had 3 base hits as the New York AL Yankees defeated the Baltimore
Orioles 3 to 0 at Memorial Stadium.

New York AL jumped on top to stay in the 7th inning scoring a single run using
3 hits.  The Baltimore offense proved no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.

The win went to Ralph Terry(3-1) who allowed no runs in 6 innings. Jim Coates
got the save, his 1st.  Wynn Hawkins(1-2) was the loser in relief.  He
pitched 3 innings and surrendered 5 hits and 1 walk.

New York AL's manager was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad
streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back.  Now maybe
we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'

April 23

Gus Triandos ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Baltimore Orioles beat the
New York AL Yankees by a score of 4 to 3.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Triandos.  He cracked a two-run shot in the 3rd inning and
delivered a solo blast (his 3rd of the season) in the 8th inning.  Baltimore
ended up with 9 hits for the game while New York AL had 4.

The victory went to Wynn Hawkins(2-2) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Hawkins got relief help from Marty Kutyna who gained credit for his 4th save.
Bill Fischer(0-3) was hit with the loss in relief.
