MAY 1 First baseman Bill Skowron jacked one out of the ballyard and scored 3 times as the New York AL Yankees outscored the Baltimore Orioles 7 to 0. Baltimore fell behind quickly as the New York AL offense came through in the first inning scoring 2 runs using 2 hits. Norm Siebern kicked off the action when he slapped a single. Bobby Richardson stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. After another out, Bob Shaw stepped in and he let a pitch get away from him scoring a run. Skowron was up next and he lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 4th of the season). That scoring would be all that was needed. New York AL finished with 10 hits in the victory. The win was credited to Art Ditmar(5-1) who went 7 innings allowing no runs. Shaw(1-4) was charged with the loss. When questioned, New York AL's manager remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'
