Pirates take 3 of 4 in this series..... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GAME #1: Kison vs Fryman Woody Fryman pitched well over 8 innings as Montreal defeated Pittsburgh in the opener 3-1. Fryman was tough on the Pirate offense throughout the game. Montreal scored first in the 4th as Ray Fosse featured his speed in the inning. He singled, stole 2nd and then scored on Roberto Clemente's -5 arm on a Frank Duffy open single. Pittsburgh tied the game in the 6th when Freddie Patek doubled and scored on a Al Oliver single. The tie game didn't last long as the Expos went back ahead in the bottom of the 6th. Bob Bailey singled and Duffy again came through with a bases clearing double. Montreal added insurance in the 7th as Doug Griffin scored on a bases loaded walk. Mike Marshall picked up his 12th save in the win.
