MAY 15 Glen Hobbie had a strong outing as the Kansas City A's defeated the New York AL Yankees 4 to 0 at Municipal Stadium. Kansas City took the lead for good in the 3rd inning scoring a single run on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Hobbie(4-4) and Kansas City. That was all the run support Hobbie required. Kansas City had 8 hits for the afternoon. Whitey Ford(4-4) suffered the loss. He surrendered 2 runs and 6 hits in 7 innings. Kansas City's manager was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
