In order to keep things from getting out of balance too soon, the draft
order for the 1968 Dispersal Draft will be in reverse order of the actual
1968 standings, and will be non-serpentine.
So whoever gets the Senators gets the #1 slot, for example, since they had
the worst overall record in baseball in 1968. It doesn't seem quite fair to
have somebody get one of the top 1968 teams, and also get a prime draft
spot. (BTW, I am *not* taking the Senators :-)
The reasoning is that when the Constitution was written, it was assumed that
we'd be drafting teams randomly, and reversing that order for the D.D. But
now that owners control their team selections, it is best to draft for 1968
the same way we'll be drafting in all future seasons - in reverse order of
the standings.
I anticipate that this change won't cause anybody to alter their team
selection (since I'm sure most of us are thinking long-term here, and this
is a very short-term change), but if you'd prefer to submit a revised list,
please do so.
