April 20 The New York AL Yankees ended a long winless drought and defeated
the Kansas City A's by a score of 6 to 2 at Municipal Stadium. Vinegar Bend Mizell(1-2) gave a fine effort for New York AL.
He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings improving his ERA from 4.42 to 3.91. New York AL rapped out 8 hits for the night. Ned Garver(2-3) was given the loss. He pitched 7 innings and

Bill Skowron then ripped a base-knock plating a run. Elston Howard followed and he delivered a one-base hit driving in one more runner. Klaus stepped into the box and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. New York AL and Kansas City each finished the night with 11 hits.
