Hank Bauer got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Tony Kubek was up next and he smacked a three-run homer (his 4th of the season). New York AL had a total of 12 hits for the game. The win was credited to Whitey Ford(3-4) who went 9 innings allowing 2 runs. Ford got relief help from Ryne Duren who gained credit for his 11th save.
