The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the New York AL Yankees in 11 innings 4 to 3 at
Forbes Field in a hard fought contest.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings.  Pittsburgh came out
on top in the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Don Zimmer smashed a
solo-shot out of the park (his 1st of the season) resulting in an exciting
win for Pittsburgh and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Although they lost, New York AL did out-hit Pittsburgh 14 to 9.

The winning pitcher was Don Gross(1-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Tom
Sturdivant(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 1 hit
in 1/3 of an inning.

With this win, Pittsburgh has a 20-25 record.  They have been 4-6 lately.
With the loss, New York AL has a record of 4-6 lately, 23-22 overall.

Yogi Berra had 4 hits at Forbes Field where the New York AL Yankees beat the
Pittsburgh Pirates 11 to 6.
