May 22 Tito Francona connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Chicago NL Cubs defeated the New York AL Yankees by the score of 4 to 2 at Wrigley Field. Chicago NL tallied 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning with the help of 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Francona who made the Chicago NL fans a happy lot when he bombed a two-run dinger (his 4th of the season). Chicago NL out-hit New York AL for the game, 11 hits to 7. Bobby Locke(4-2) went 6 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Locke got help from Don McMahon who earned his 2nd save. Whitey Ford(3-6) was the loser. The Chicago NL ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 34-16. New York AL's manager was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
