Gaylord Perry(6-6) and Lew Krausse(1-5) locked horns in a pitcher's duel with
Perry and the San Francisco Giants coming out on top of the Kansas City A's 3
to 1.
San Francisco had the game winning rally in the top of the 8th inning with 2
runs. Richie Scheinblum opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk.
Krausse then unleashed a wild pitch. Jim Landis dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out. Krausse then let loose a wild pitch. Jim Davenport
stepped into the box and smashed a two-run homer (his 5th of the season).
Kansas City had 8 hits in the game while San Francisco had 5, but San
Francisco had the more timely hits.
Joe Gibbon was credited with his 3rd save.
