Washington won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Harmon Killebrew led off and started the attack as he laced a base-hit. Bob Allison was next and he blasted a two-run home run (his 20th of the season) resulting in a mighty exciting win for Washington and the 41,030 home town fans in attendance. Despite losing, New York AL out-hit Washington 8 to 5. Humberto Robinson(4-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Ryne Duren(1-2) suffered the loss in relief. Washington's manager was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
