At Comiskey Park the Chicago AL White Sox easily handled the New York AL
Yankees by the score of 7 to 3.
 
Chicago AL brought 4 runs across the plate in the 4th inning when they had 4
base hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Albie Pearson who made
the crowd come alive when he lined a one-base hit plating two runs.  Chicago
AL had a total of 9 hits for the game. 
 
Early Wynn(15-8) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Bob Turley(5-8) was
hit with the loss.  He gave up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of work.

In a two run game the New York AL Yankees got by the Chicago AL White Sox by
the score of 4 to 2.
 
New York AL won the game with a rally in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs using 4
hits.  Bill Skowron led off and he delivered a one-base hit.  After an out
was recorded, Mickey Mantle came up and he laced a base-knock.  Yogi Berra
then stroked a single to load the bases.  Bobby Richardson stepped in and he
doubled bringing in two baserunners.  New York AL finished with 15 hits while
Chicago AL ended up with 8. 
 
Ralph Terry(8-10) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Ryne
Duren gained credit for his 23rd save.  Joe Nuxhall(9-7) absorbed the loss in
relief.  He allowed 3 hits and no walks in 1/3 of an inning. 
 
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Terry, 'I was just
giving us a chance to win.'

Whitey Ford blanked Chicago AL in a very well-pitched complete game as the New
York AL Yankees outscored the Chicago AL White Sox 4 to 0.
 
Ford(11-7) was very good in the win.  He allowed only 5 hits and 2 walks in 9
innings reducing his ERA from 4.00 to 3.79.  New York AL had a total of 9
hits for the game. 
 
The losing pitcher was Billy Pierce(8-13).  He pitched 6 innings allowing 7
hits and no walks.

Bennie Daniels came through with a solid 8 and one third innings asthe
Chicago AL White Sox topped the New York AL Yankees by a score of 6 to 2 at
Comiskey Park.
 
Chicago AL jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating an
isolated run.  For the game Chicago AL out-hit New York AL 10 to 5. 
 
The win went to Daniels(3-10) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. The
loss was charged to Art Ditmar(16-5).  He surrendered 8 hits and 2 walks in 7
innings.
