In a lop-sided win the Pittsburgh Pirates ripped the Cincinnati Reds by a 6 to
1 count.

Jim Rooker(2-0) had a solid outing for Pittsburgh.  He went 7 innings allowing
6 hits and 5 walks lowering his ERA from 3.86 to 3.38.  Pittsburgh had 12
hits overall, while Cincinnati had 8. 

The losing pitcher was Don Gullett(5-1).  He allowed Pittsburgh 5 runs in 4
innings of work.

Lou Piniella had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Riverfront Stadium where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 12 to 5.

Don Wilson(5-0) pitched a fine game.  He surrendered 9 hits and 1 walk in 8

the game and Pittsburgh had 10.

Tom Seaver went the distance at Riverfront Stadium where the Cincinnati Reds
beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5 to 2.

Tony Perez helped send the fans home happy.  He doubled resulting in a run in
the 4th inning, doubled which scored a run in the 6th inning and lofted a
three-run 'big-fly' (his 7th of the season) in the 8th inning.  Cincinnati
had only 6 hits for the game. 

Seaver(4-1) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Ken Brett(1-6)
was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 7 innings giving up only 4 hits and 1
walk.

'He had his 'A' game today,' Alan Boodman said of Seaver.  'Very impressive
performance.
