Subject: Brewers @ Texas
The Brewers take 2 of 3 in a series that featured very little pitching. The last game was not even as close as the score would suggest, the Brewers manager was trying to get Torrez a complete game and left him in trying to get that final out even though Torrez was WAY over on his pitch count. You see the result. I also heard a report that LOU was at the game, but did not actually see him myself. hehe Dave BOXSCORE: 1973 Milwaukee Brewers At 1973 Texas Rangers 6/28/1973 Brewers AB R H RBI AVG Rangers AB R H RBI AVG C.Cedeno CF 4 3 2 2 .315 D.Nelson 2B 4 0 0 0 .310 D.Money 3B 5 0 1 1 .248 T.Harrah 3B 4 1 2 1 .241 D.Porter C 4 2 2 1 .297 M.Alou RF 4 1 2 0 .289 G.Scott 1B 2 1 0 0 .273 B.Watson 1B 4 1 2 1 .263 J.Briggs LF 3 1 1 1 .247 J.Burroughs LF 4 1 1 2 .261 J.Lahoud RF 2 0 0 0 .262 J.Hart DH 4 0 0 0 .300 M.Hegan DH 3 0 0 0 .239 J.Boccabella C 3 0 2 0 .336 P.Garcia 2B 3 0 0 1 .221 A-L.Biittner PH 0 0 0 0 .242 T.Johnson SS 4 0 0 0 .228 B-B.Madlock PH 1 0 1 0 .483 V.Harris CF 4 036 4 11 4 A-Pinch Hit For Boccabella In 9th Inning B-Pinch Hit For Biittner In 9th Inning Brewers......... 1 1 2 0 0 1 1 1 0 - 7 6 1 Rangers......... 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 3 0 - 4 11 1 Brewers IP H R ER BB SO HR PC ERA SCORESHEET G.Stone WIN(6-6) 7 2/3 10 4 4 0 5 2 120 4.12 A1 D5 S.Lockwood 0 1/3 0 0 0 0 0 03 8.38 D6 D6 S.Barber SAVE(11th) 1 1 0 0 0 1 0 15 1.76 D7 Totals 9 11 4 4 0 6 2 Range rs IP H R ER BB SO HR PC ERA SCORESHEET N.Ryan LOSS(9-13) 7 6 6 6 4 5 3 114 3.88 A1 D3 P.Broberg 2 0 1 0 1 0 0 26 4.23 D4 Totals 9 6 7 6 5 5 3 ATTENDANCE- 37,853 DATE- Thursday, June 28th 1973 TIME- Night T- 2:06 LEFT ON BASE- Brewers: 4 Rangers: 5 DOUBLE PLAYS- Brewers: 3 Rangers: 2 ERRORS- T.Johnson, E.Brinkman DOUBLES- D.Money(17th), D.Porter(8th), M.Alou(9th), B.Watson(8th) HOME RUNS- C.Cedeno-2(15th), D.Porter(13th), T.Harrah(4th), J.Burroughs(13th) STOLEN BASES- C.Cedeno(22nd) SACRIFICE HITS- J.Lahoud, M.Hegan SACRIFICE FLIES- P.Garcia WALKS- C.Cedeno, G.Scott-2, J.Briggs, J.Lahoud STRIKE OUTS- C.Cedeno, D.Porter, G.Scott-2, T.Johnson, T.Harrah, M.Alou, J.Hart, V.Harris, E.Brinkman-2 GIDP- J.Lahoud, M.Hegan, B.Watson, V.Harris-2 Cesar Cedeno smacked 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at Arlington Stadium as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Texas Rangers by the count of 7 to 4. Milwaukee had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings. George Stone(6-6) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Steve Barber earned his 11th save. Nolan Ryan(9-13) ended up with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 7 innings of work. The win by Milwaukee is a very welcome one as they have been struggling in recent days. Their record now stands at 39-46 - only 2-8 in their last ten games. With this loss, Texas has a 5-5 record of late, 31-54, worst in the division overall.
