For the game New York AL out-hit Los Angeles 16 to 12. The win was credited to Vinegar Bend Mizell(2-4) who went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run. Tom Sturdivant earned the save, his 2nd. The losing pitcher was Pedro Ramos(2-5). He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. For New York AL the victory was a welcome one, indeed. May 20 The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York AL Yankeesof 5 to 1 at Memorial Coliseum. Los Angeles did all the necessary damage in the 4th inning when they tallied 5 runs on 5 hits. The highlight belonged to Billy Harrell who made the Los Angeles fans a happy lot when he clubbed a three-run home run (his 6th of the season). The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again. The victory was credited to Johnny Podres(5-4) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run. Duke Maas(2-4) was the loser. He gave up 5 runs and 7 hits in 5 innings. With this win, Los Angeles has a 22-23 record. They have been 4-6 lately. New York AL's manager was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.' New York AL kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings. Robin Roberts(3-4) was the loser. He allowed 14 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings. Ford didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many.
