the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 3 to 2.
Hall(3-2) was on top of his game. He surrendered only 3 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings. Hall racked up 12 strikeouts reducing his ERA from 1.90 to 1.62.
Pittsburgh made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
Ramon Hernandez(3-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'Hall was the man
tonight,' Alan Boodman said. 'He had just about every pitch working.'

Dave Tomlin pitched 4 strong innings as the powerful Cincinnati Reds defeated
the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 10 to 7 at Riverfront
Stadium.
Pittsburgh was unable to claim the lead after Cincinnati went ahead in the 3rd
inning scoring one runner. Cincinnati and Pittsburgh each finished the night
with 12 hits.
Pedro Borbon(5-3) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Borbon got help from Tomlin who earned his 1st save. Jim Merritt(1-5) was
hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in 4
innings.

Joe Morgan cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Riverfront Stadium where the

Morgan provided much of the offense. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 3rd
inning, stroked a single in the 7th inning and lifted one out of the park for
a two run home run (his 16th of the season) in the 8th inning. Offensively,
