Subject: Montreal at St. Louis Week 15

New manager attached.

Game 1
Shortstop Pepe Frias had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Steve Renko had a strong
outing as the Montreal Expos defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by the score
of
10 to 2 at Busch Stadium.

Renko(13-8) pitched a fine game. He went 7 innings allowing 1 hit and 3
walks. Montreal had 11 hits overall, while St. Louis had 2.

Alan Foster(4-11) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks
in
5 innings.

Game 2
Jerry Reuss went the distance as the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the
Montreal Expos 8 to 2.

In the 5th inning St. Louis scored 5 runs when they had 3 base hits. The
big
moment was provided by Joe Torre who brought the crowd to their feet when he
caught a hold of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun (his 6th of the
season).
St. Louis finished with 10 hits in the victory.

Reuss(2-10) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. The losing
pitcher
was Balor Moore(7-9). He had trouble throwing strikes and issued 8 walks in
4 and 1/3 innings.

Game 3
In an great finish the St. Louis Cardinals won in dramatic fashion over the
Montreal Expos by a score of 4 to 3 at Busch Stadium.

St. Louis had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs
on
2 hits. Reggie Smith led off and keyed the rally when he laced a one-base
hit. Joe Torre was next and he drew a walk. Cito Gaston then tripled
driving home two runs. Luis Melendez came up and he worked the squeeze play
to perfection making St. Louis victorious to the delight of the the home
town
crowd. Despite losing, Montreal out-hit St. Louis 10 to 7.

The win went to Dave Sells(5-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. The losing
pitcher was Mike Marshall(5-4) in relief. 'What a game!,' Sells said
afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it!'

Game 4
Denny Doyle had 3 base hits as the Montreal Expos defeated the St. Louis
Cardinals 6 to 2 at Busch Stadium.

Montreal set the tone of the game in the first inning when they scored 3
runs
on 2 hits. That early scoring was all that Ernie McAnally(3-11) needed.
Montreal had 10 hits for the game and St. Louis had 7.

The losing pitcher was Bob Gibson(6-8). He pitched 5 innings and
surrendered
5 hits and 4 walks.
