august 3 Tony Kubek had 5 hits at Fenway Park as the New York AL Yankees embarrassed the Boston Red Sox by the lopsided score of 12 to 2. Boston never recovered after New York AL took the lead in the 3rd inning when they scored 3 runs on 2 hits. That early scoring was all that Art Ditmar(6-1) needed. Ditmar was helped out by Ryne Duren who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 20th save. Ray Semproch(9-9) suffered the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings.
