Teams split the series. The 2 major highlights were:
Game 1 - Cedeno hits for the cycle with a triple in his last at bat.
Game 2 - May pokes a Grand Slam.

GAME 1

Brewers......... 0 0 0 1 0 4 2 0 1 - 8 13 1
Orioles......... 3 2 0 0 2 3 0 1 - 11 13 0

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the ice-cold Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 11 to 8 at Memorial Stadium.

Boog Powell had a good evening at the plate. He slapped a single which was good for two runs in the 1st inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 6th of the season) in the 2nd inning. Baltimore and Milwaukee each finished the night with 13 hits.

Dave McNally(16-8) was the winner allowing 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
McNally was helped out by Eddie Watt who recorded his 5th save. Jerry
Bell(6-11) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 9 hits and 5 walks in 5 innings.


The Baltimore ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 76-55.
Milwaukee can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 1-9 record over the last couple weeks.

GAME 2

Mike Hegan went yard and had 4 RBI at Memorial Stadium where the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Baltimore Orioles 11 to 9.

Hegan provided much of the offense. He doubled scoring a run in the 1st inning, blasted a solo shot (his 5th of th e season) in the 3rd inning and stroked a base-hit plating two runs in the 6th inning. Despite scoring in 5 separate innings, Baltimore could not get the win.

Mike Torrez(12-4) picked up the victory, allowing 8 runs in 5 innings. Torrez got help from Steve Barber who was credited with his 12th save. Eddie Watt(6-5) was tagged with the loss in relief. He was knocked around, surrendering5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Dave Jackson was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'

GAME 3

Orioles......... 1 0 0 0 0 7 0 0 - 8 10 1


Jim Palmer dominated striking out 10 Milwaukee batters at Memorial Stadium where the Baltimore Orioles beat the Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 8 to 1.

Palmer(20-10) put on a good performance. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Baltimore rapped out 10 hits for the night.

Steve Carlton(8-16) took the loss. He allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Palmer - except
Milwaukee. Dave Jackson lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'


GAME 4

Steve Barber went 5 strong innings as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Baltimore Orioles in 14 innings by the score of 7 to 5 at Memorial
Stadium.


The score was tied at 5 after nine. Milwaukee ended up winning it in the 14th inning. After an out was recorded, Joe Lahoud opened up the rally as he delivered a base-hit. Rudy Meoli followed and he delivered a one-base hit. After another out, Johnny Briggs came up and he tripled scoring two teammates. Milwaukee had 12 hits for the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was George S tone(9-7) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. Roger Nelson(1-4) was given the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 3 hits in 1 inning.
