At Jarry Park the Montreal Expos outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates 6 to
3.

Montreal had 3 runs cross the plate in the 7th inning when they had 4 base
hits. The key at-bat was by Frank Duffy who excited the crowd when he lined
a base-hit which was good for two runs. The Pittsburgh batters went down
meekly in the 9th.

The victory was credited to Steve Renko(21-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Renko got relief help from Mike Marshall who gained credit for his 42nd
save. Ken Brett(9-20) was the loser. He was unable to control the Montreal
offense and allowed 11 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings.
