hits. The key at-bat was by Frank Duffy who excited the crowd when he lined
a base-hit which was good for two runs. The Pittsburgh batters went down
meekly in the 9th.
The victory was credited to Steve Renko(21-9) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Renko got relief help from Mike Marshall who gained credit for his 42nd
save. Ken Brett(9-20) was the loser. He was unable to control the Montreal

Balor Moore went 7 strong innings as the Montreal Expos pulled out a win over
the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 4 to 3 at Jarry Park.
The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. After two were out
Frank Duffy cracked a solo homerun (his 6th of the season) making Montreal
the winners and sending the 47,189 fans home happy. Montreal had a total of
7 hits for the game.
The win went to Mike Marshall(8-5) who allowed 3 runs in 2 innings. Jim
Rooker(9-7) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and
surrendered 1 hit and no walks.

Steve Rogers allowed Steve Bivens to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Tim McCarver jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI as the Montreal
Expos destroyed the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 19 to 1 at Jarry
Park.
The Montreal fans enjoyed the offense provided by McCarver. He lofted a
three-run 'big-fly' (his 7th of the season) in the 2nd inning, delivered a
base-hit in the 4th inning and stroked a one-base hit in the 8th inning.
Montreal lit up the scoreboard in the 2nd inning when they had 10 runs on 7
hits and the 6th inning scoring 5 runs. Montreal had a total of 15 hits for
the game.
Rogers(8-1) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Bob Moose(17-12)
was the loser. He allowed 4 homeruns in 2 innings of work.
