Hank Bauer launched 2 homeruns as the New York AL Yankees defeated the
Cincinnati Reds by a score of 11 to 9 at Crosley Field.
 
Bauer had a big day with his bat.  He lost the ball over the fence for three
runs in the 1st inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his
4th of the season) in the 2nd inning.  New York AL ended up with 16 hits for
the game while Cincinnati had 13. 
 
Vito Valentinetti(1-0) went 6 innings allowing 6 runs for the win. Bob Grim
recorded the save, his 9th.  Brooks Lawrence(7-5) took the loss.  He allowed
7 runs and 6 hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.

Duke Snider cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds beat the
New York AL Yankees by a score of 7 to 6.
 
Snider provided much of the offense.  He delivered a solo blast in the 1st
inning and cracked a two-run shot (his 23rd of the season) in the 3rd inning.
New York AL had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. 
 
Turk Farrell(1-3) got the win allowing 1 run in 2/3 of an inning. Dick Hyde
gained credit for his 4th save.  Bob Grim(0-4) took the loss in relief.

At Crosley Field the Cincinnati Reds tallied 4 runs in the 1st inning and
outscored the New York AL Yankees 7 to 4.
 
The game started off with Cincinnati taking the lead in the first scoring 4
runners on 3 hits.  The big moment was provided by Frank Robinson who made
the crowd come alive when he cracked a two-run shot (his 13th of the season).
Cincinnati had 11 hits for the night. 
 
The win was credited to Moe Drabowsky(5-3) who went 6 innings allowing 4 runs.
Harvey Haddix got the save, his 1st.  The losing pitcher was Vinegar Bend
Mizell(4-2).  He served up 3 gopher balls in 5 innings.
