Bill Buckner had 3 base hits as the San Francisco Giants defeated the ice-cold
New York NL Mets in 12 innings by the score of 9 to 8 at CANDLESTICK
PARK.

The score was tied at 8 after nine.  San Francisco ended up winning it in the
12th inning.  Doug Rader delivered a single.  Bobby Bonds followed and he
drew a walk.  Chris Speier then singled to load the bases.  After an out was
recorded, Jim York stepped in and he let one slip out of his hand for a wild
pitch giving San Francisco the win much to the delight of the home town
crowd.  San Francisco finished with 18 hits in the victory.

John D'Acquisto(9-3) got the win allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
York(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 2 hits
in 1/3 of an inning.
