Subject: White Sox begin Pennant drive - a little too late

The ChiSox sweep the Twins.  Games 1 and 2 were desperate struggles won by the Men of Comiskey by the skins of their teeth.

If the Red Sox go 12-19, all we have to do is go 24-4 to force a playoff.  Paging the 1995 Mariners!

Joe Morgan had 4 hits and scored 3 times and Hoyt Wilhelm was great in relief
as the Chicago AL White Sox defeated the Minnesota Twins by a score of 7 to 5
at Metropolitan Stadium.

Joel Horlen stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  J.C. Martin
then reached on an error scoring a run.  One out later, Ron Hansen stepped in
and he singled.  Don Buford stepped into the box and stroked a single.
Morgan added to the uprising and drew a walk to load the bases.  Pete Ward
came to the plate and was hit by a pitch scoring the final run of the inning.
Chicago AL finished with 11 hits in the victory.
