The game was decided in the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Hank Bauer cracked a solo homerun (his 1st of the season). New York AL finished with 8 hits in the victory. Ford(1-0) allowed 1 run on the game. Chuck Stobbs(0-1) took the loss. He surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 2/3 innings. 'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' Washington's manager said. Ford pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.'
