Juan Marichal pitched a 3 hit shutout as the San Francisco Giants topped the
Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 2 to 0 at Dodger Stadium.
Marichal(10-8) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for
the Los Angeles batters. He gave up just 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings
improving his ERA from 3.44 to 3.24. After the 3rd inning, neither team was
able to score.
The loss was charged to Bill Singer(9-12). When questioned about his
counterpart after the game, Singer was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious
very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Marichal brought
his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly.
He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
