April 20 At Polo Grounds, the New York NL faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's duel. Johnny Antonelli(4-1) finally bested his New York AL counterpart, Vinegar Bend Mizell(3-2), by the score of 2 to 0. New York NL jumped on top of New York AL in the bottom of the 3rd inning scoring a single run on 2 hits. Daryl Spencer doubled. Two outs later Eddie Yost came up and he laced a base-knock. That early scoring held up. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning. Antonelli got relief help from Hoyt Wilhelm who gained credit for his 2nd save. Mizell took the loss. He allowed 7 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings. New York NL now has a record of 8-7. With the loss, New York AL has a record of 7-3 lately, 11-4 overall.
