August 8 Bob Aspromonte had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Fenway Park where the Boston Red Sox beat the New York AL Yankees in 10 innings 14 to 13. The score was knotted at 13 after nine innings. Boston won it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Rico Petrocelli was hit by a pitch. Tony Conigliaro came next and he hit a single. Aspromonte then banged out a single giving Boston the victory and sending the 47,286 home-town fans home happy. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times. Gary Bell(20-3) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. The losing pitcher was Dooley Womack(3-7) in relief. Boston scored big getting 5 runs off him in 2 and 1/3 innings.
