Pittsburgh was unable to recover after Chicago NL went ahead in
the bottom of
the 2nd inning when they scored 2
runs on 3 hits. Pittsburgh made it
exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Bert Blyleven(15-16) went 7 and 2/3
innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
Blyleven
got help from Oscar Zamora who earned his 13th save. The loss
was
charged to Larry Demery(1-3). He got hit
hard, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks
in 5
innings.

their last at-bat beating the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 3 to 2.
