JULY 27 Joe Demaestri had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Kansas City A's topped the New York AL Yankees by a score of 6 to 2 at Municipal Stadium. New York AL lost it in the 7th inning when Kansas City did all their damage when they scored 6 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Jackie Brandt who electrified Municipal Stadium when he brought the hometown folks to their feet with a Grand Slammer (his 9th of the season). The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Wally Burnette(6-10) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Vinegar Bend Mizell(16-7) was hit with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 7 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. Skowron had a big day with his bat. He laced a base-knock in the 2nd inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 4th inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 26th of the season) in the 7th inning.
