April 10 Willard Nixon tossed a complete game and Jackie Jensen went yard and had 5 RBI as the Boston Red Sox outscored the New York AL Yankees 7 to 3. Jensen enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He hit a single scoring a run in the 1st inning and lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 1st of the season) in the 5th inning. Boston banged out 11 hits on the night. The win went to Nixon(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Tommy Byrne(0-1) was given the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Boston tallied 3 runs in the 3rd inning. After an out was recorded, Bobby Morgan got things going when he drew a walk. Boston's manager then called for a steal which was successful. Ike Delock then reached on an error. Roy McMillan was up next and he doubled. After another out, Jackie Jensen came up and he lashed a single. Jensen took second on the throw. Ted Williams kept the inning going and drew a walk. Boston took care of New York AL with no trouble in the 9th. The winning pitcher was Delock(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Jim Konstanty gained credit for his 2nd save. Bob Turley(2-1) took the loss. He allowed 5 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings.
