In a close game it was the Boston Red Sox 5, the New York AL Yankees 3 at
Fenway Park.
Boston tallied 3 runs in the 3rd inning.  After an out was recorded, Bobby
Morgan got things going when he drew a walk.  Boston's manager then called
for a steal which was successful.  Ike Delock then reached on an error.  Roy
McMillan was up next and he doubled.  After another out, Jackie Jensen came
up and he lashed a single.  Jensen took second on the throw.  Ted Williams
kept the inning going and drew a walk.  Boston took care of New York AL with
no trouble in the 9th.
The winning pitcher was Delock(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Jim Konstanty gained credit for his 2nd save.  Bob Turley(2-1) took the loss.
He allowed 5 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings.
